To our knowledge, this is the first report of catheter-related bloodstream infection caused by S. schleiferi subspecies coagulans. S. schleiferi subsp. coagulans can be pathogenic in humans, and MALDI-TOF MS can contribute to accurate identification of S. schleiferi subspecies coagulans.
