Elevated primary bile acids were associated with ileitis, and reduced microbial diversity, F.prausnitzii abundance, and enzymatic abundance of MetY (acetate and L-methionine producing enzyme expressed by F.prausnitzii) and were the only factor associated with these findings after ileocolectomy.
