Patients with cirrhosis and other severe comorbidity undergo emergency umbilical hernia repair frequently. Emergency repair is associated with increased risk of poor outcome. Patients with cirrhosis undergo a postoperative reintervention more frequently than patients with other severe comorbidity undergoing umbilical hernia repair.
