Aberrant DNMT1/3a elevations and the resultant PPARγ suppression contribute significantly to the development of pulmonary fibrosis, and strategies targeting DNMT/PPARγ axis by synthetic or natural small compounds might benefit patients with pulmonary fibrotic disorders.
