Epigenetic malleability at core promoter initiates tobacco PR-1a expression post salicylic acid treatment.

The study aimed to reveal the mechanism of transcription initiation of tobacco PR-1a gene in presence or absence of SA. This is the first study that reports nucleosome and repressor complex over core promoter region maintains the inactivation of gene in uninduced state, and upon induction disassembling of both initiates the downstream gene activation process.
