There is a paucity of research in the use of virtual care for rheumatology, especially describing the ability of virtual care modalities to supplant in person visits. Virtual care for rheumatoid arthritis (RA) management appears in the short term to provide equivalent control of disease activity and good patient experience compared to conventional follow-up strategies. Future studies should evaluate the long-term impacts of virtual care on RA outcomes and health service utilization.
