Cholestasis, a condition that may manifest during pregnancy, may be associated not only with observable pathological changes in placental tissues at the light microscopic level, but also with an increase in TROP2 expression. Given the critical role of TROP2 in trophoblast invasion during placental implantation, we hypothesize that TROP2 may serve as a key marker of the cholestatic processes occurring during pregnancy.
