The main strength of the current study is the use of a large dataset, assessing longitudinal data to examine MLTC trajectories and a dataset that is nationally representative of people aged 50 years and older, including a wide range of long-term conditions and sociodemographics. The measurement of MLTC was limited to ten long-term conditions, which was all of what was available in the English of Longitudinal Study of Ageing, which may not be exhaustive of all possible long-term conditions.
