Irrigated RF ablation with HNS irrigant produces coagulative necrosis as well as several delayed histopathological changes with a deeper field of effective ablation. Transmurality may not be obtained in the ventricular myocardium with endocardial, epicardial, or sequential unipolar HNS ablation.
