The recent surge in telemedicine during the COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted how imperative it is to understand: 1) how liver transplant (LT) recipients use smartphone technology, and 2) what they need in terms of remote support to assist with post-transplant recovery. Smartphone applications (i.e. apps) have been used in other chronic medical conditions to improve coordination of care, patient education, and medication adherence (1).
