Increased leptin and Hcy levels during pregnancy, mainly associated with modifications in erythrocytes and lipid indices, may lead to early modification of genes related to lipid metabolism (APOA1) and proinflammatory response (COX-2) and, thereby, increase cardiovascular disease risk.
