The advantages of using low-similarity peptide antigens may be two-fold, abolishing the risk of cross-reactivity and eliminating the vaccine adjuvantation procedure. Vaccines based on pathogen unique sequences would provide effective vaccine preparation while curbing the risk for the human host.
