To improve the safety of athletes after a head injury, sporting organizations should develop sport-specific guidelines according to the latest CISG consensus statement, and this should be updated regularly. Implementation is especially important in combat sports, where there is a high incidence of head injury. Thus, there is a requirement for the most up-to-date concussion management protocols in these sports.
