Complex pain is common in palliative care. The bio-psycho-social and spiritual model is important for understanding and treatment. Differentiation according to nociceptive, neuropathic and mixed pain should be considered. Analgesic therapy is based on the WHO guidelines and the extended WHO analgesic ladder. The pain management plan includes pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions with involvement of the private and professional network.
