Expectations in the workplace: a qualitative study among Australian and South African academic pharmacists.

Level of motivation, degree of satisfaction and adversity impacted perceived performance of academic pharmacists. Addressing factors that contribute to adversity, and modifying workplace factors to improve satisfaction, may lead to enhanced motivation and perceived performance among academic pharmacists; ultimately, this may have a positive influence on this sector of the pharmacy workforce.
