Quantifying small molecule uptake across a biological membrane of a target cell is crucial for the development of efficacious and selective drugs. However, current methods to obtaining such data are not trivial. Herein, we present an accessible, higher-throughput (20 minutes), 1 H NMR spectroscopy assay, which enables the quantification of small molecule phospholipid passive membrane permeation and membrane adhesion parameters.
