Targeting TGFBR1 kinase activity may have therapeutic benefit in the majority of RDEB cSCCs. However, the potential tumour suppressive role of TGF-β signalling in a subset of RDEB cSCCs necessitates biomarker identification to enable patient stratification before clinical intervention.
