The reinforcing and circulation-promoting protocol of acupuncture and moxibustion is effective in treating refractory chronic low back pain mainly because low back pain can be significantly relieved and motor function can be promoted. This trial was registered with AMCTR-OOO-17000045 (3 December 2016).
