Exserohilum rostratum infection of the skin has a favourable course, whereas rhinosinus infection can be rapidly invasive in the immunocompromised child requiring prompt surgical intervention and antifungal therapy. Susceptibility data support empiric use of liposomal amphotericin and/or posaconazole.
