Patients having a lung resection postoesophagectomy tended to have a higher risk of aspiration pneumonia. Fasting management before lung resection is important in preventing intraoperative aspiration pneumonia. Lung resection ipsilateral to oesophagectomy and lobectomy may result in complications requiring therapeutic intervention.
