Periodontitis deteriorates renal fibrosis and macrophage infiltration in rats with CKD.

These suggest that periodontitis increases renal fibrosis and inflammation in the presence or absence of CKD but does not affect renal function. Periodontitis also increases TNFα expression in the presence of CKD.
