Photoredox-catalyzed C(sp 2 )-H trifluoromethylation of 3-methylene-isoindolin-1-ones under metal-free conditions.

A facile synthetic method for direct C(sp 2 )-H bond trifluoromethylation of 3-methylene-isoindolin-1-ones under visible-light-induced metal-free conditions is presented. This protocol features mild reaction conditions, broad substrate scope and excellent functional group tolerance, resulting in a range of structurally diverse trifluoromethylated products in good to excellent yields.
