Recently, reports have described the association between neuronatin (Nnat) and endoplasmic reticulum stress, and the promotion of insulin processing by Nnat, the expression of which is greatly induced by glucose stimulation. The roles of Nnat are worthy of note under both physiological and pathological conditions. In this Commentary, I discuss the association between Nnat and glucose-induced stress on the basis of recent knowledge.
