-DAG), the priming substrate for LTA assembly. A model is proposed whereby a key substrate controls the temporal and spatial activity of an enzyme. In turn, this mechanism enables the establishment of a unique and transient lipid pool that defines septal membranes as a targeting site for the secretion of YSIRK preproteins.
