Mycobacterium abscessus Periprosthetic Hip Infection Complicated by Superimposed Polymicrobial Infection: A Case Report.

As far as we know, this is the first reported case of M. abscessus hip PJI complicated by superimposed polymicrobial infection. This case demonstrates the challenge of treating M. abscessus infection, the need for a multidisciplinary approach with aggressive surgical intervention, and prolonged combination antimicrobial therapy for a successful outcome.
