These findings question the routine use of chemotherapy after complete mesocolic excision for Stage III colon cancer. Recurrence and cancer-specific death, assessed by competing risk methods, should be the standard outcomes for evaluating the effectiveness of adjuvant chemotherapy after potentially curative resection.
