Anxiety and social support needs of Chinese women receiving a high-risk screening result for Down syndrome.

The results suggest that early routine screening for anxiety symptoms should be carried out among Chinese pregnant women receiving a high-risk screening result for Down syndrome. The importance of social support and the role it can play in decreasing anxiety should be discussed with patients.
